There I was on Friday evening - home alone, devoid of any human companionship which of course was not the first time. After a few clicks at the public television (alas, my simple abode is without cable TV subscription. Say, whatever happens to that stupid MiTV?), I decided to watch Anugerah Skrin - the only palatable TV program that nite. After all, what's a girl to do?
And so...let's see, there were Maya Karin, Hans Isaac, Awie, Raja Azura, Zizan, Ally Iskandar (what was he doing there?) among many others--some of whom believed they were dressed to the ninth for the pseudo-glam event. Linda Onn also decided to turn up as she finally found something forgettable to wear. From memory, Zizan was wearing some outlandish oversize white bow-tie which made him looked like one of the brats in "Honey, I shrunk the kids", whereas Ally looked cheap in all white ensemble. The child who claimed she-sounded-stupid-if-she-spoke-Malay had a nice black dress on--too bad though she didnt have the height to carry it off. Ning Baizura looked like she suffered from a regression-to-puberty syndrome with her above-the-knee red skirt --all of which seemed to accentuate her pregnancy (Is she pregnant? Well, she looked it). And what was that extension on Ogy's head? Someone should tell her to cut it off--the extension and the bad jokes she told that night. Ogy was talking so loudly that night just to sound funny. People, you need to wake up--though making yourself look stupid does seem to do the trick, you need to have a go at a witty & wicked sense of humor to make majority of the audience laugh.
In fact Ogy wasnt the only one who told bad jokes that night. As each one of the artists went up on stage to present the awards, they all told some lame jokes that made nobody laugh. Whoever was responsible to come up with such scripts deserved to be fired. And while you are at it, fire the moron who approved the scripts too. Though I must say...I applaud Tiara Jacqueline for not trying. She went up, read the names and came down --without even attempting some trivial talk with her co-presenter (seriously, why bother). Now that woman has class and dignity.
